What is DI (Deionized Water)?

DI water (Deionized Water) is water after the treatment process that has removed all minerals and ionized salts (both organic and inorganic) such as calcium, iron, copper, chloride, sulfate, nitrate, etc. solution through ion exchange. After the reduction process, the water-soluble ion is completely removed. The obtained DI water is almost completely pure.

Basic operating principles of RO-DI water treatment systems in the automotive industry

Pretreatment

The pressure filter pump takes water from the industrial water tank and pushes it into the coarse filtration system, inside contains gravel, quartz sand, manganese, activated carbon (carbon), and cation resins.

This filter system has the effect of removing heavy metal components in water such as iron, manganese, copper, and zinc, reducing bond stability, eliminating organic impurities, removing toxic mineral layers, and eliminating odors. foreign substances in water, absorb ammonia, soften water, reduce Cl-(chloride) salt radicals

After the water is filtered through the above coarse filter system, it continues to push through the fine filter. This filter has the effect of removing mud, sand, and sediment < 5 micrometers.

RO filter system

The water after going through the pre-treatment stage will be added with anti-scale chemicals (Antiscalant) in liquid form, which plays a role in preventing the formation of precipitation reactions, helping to improve cleaning efficiency and reduce expense.

The high-pressure RO pump system pushes water into the RO filter system, carrying this filter only allows water molecules to pass through, after the filtration process, about 70% pure water (with low conductivity < 10 µs/cm) will be obtained. stored in the RO tank, the rest are ions that will be pushed out along the wastewater line.

DI filter system

The DI high-pressure pump system takes water from the RO tank and pushes it into the DI filter system (inside contains Cation and Anion resins). The effect of removing positive and negative ions in water. When saturated seeds are regenerated with NaOH and HCl chemicals. The finished water (with low conductivity < 2 µs/cm) is stored in the DI tank.

The final stage of DI water passes through a germicidal UV lamp system to destroy bacteria remaining in the water and is pushed to a bactericidal filter system.
