Formerly GENERAL MOTORS VIETNAM-GM Vietnam manufactures small cars and distributes Chevrolet-branded sedans, SUVs, pickups, and services in the Vietnamese market.

After 25 years of operation, on June 28, in Hanoi, representatives of GM Vietnam and Vinfast signed a cooperation agreement to accept the authorized dealer system and become the official distributor of Chevrolet vehicles and services. of GM Vietnam in the Vietnamese market.

In addition, GM Vietnam will transfer the entire production plant located in Tu Hiep, Thanh Tri, Hanoi to Vinfast to take over. This is the foundation for Vinfast to implement energy-intensive investment activities to produce a completely new line of small cars with Vietnamese brands that are licensed from GM. The new production line is expected to be inaugurated in the first half of 2019. , adding production capacity to Vinfast next to the factory in Hai Phong.

After taking over the GM Motor factory, Vinfast invested in renovating and upgrading the factory before launching the first small car (Fadil).

To ensure the capacity and quality of its auto paint line, the GM factory renovated its paint line system at the end of 2018.
